Our feature story for early June, 2008

Image: Sketch of two Afghan children hoping to get pencils, by Richard Johnson
A Kandahar Journal by artist Richard Johnson
For two months in 2007, National Post
journalist/artist Richard Johnson was
stationed with Canadian forces in Afghanistan. During June and July, he recorded hundreds of images (Oct. '07 Slideshow)
(many in superb detail) of men and women, machines and structures. The
war, seen by some as a travesty and others as a blessing, has altered
too many lives to count. Johnson's stories and sketches
are detailed, and Adirondacker urges you to take a look at his honest
and perhaps all-too-unbiased reports and see for yourself what regular
pictures can never capture. (Relative links indicated here will open in a new browser window.)
